My recent goal has been to 'shop' from my pantry. So when I make up my menus I think of what I have on hand. The summer garden is winding down and I sure do miss those extra veggies. Our fall garden won't be ready to harvest for a few months. I still have quite a few spaghetti squash left, tomatoes, green beans, raspberries, strawberries, sweet potatoes and a variety of peppers. What's on your menu this week?

  1. I admire you being able to sit down and write out a weekly menu. I too am shopping the cupboard and feel like I've been doing that for a long time. I need to focus more on that again.

  2. Shopping the cupboard (and freezer) is such a good idea. I have stuff in my freezer that may be too old, however. We did enjoy jumbo scrimp from the freezer, thawed of course, and haven't gotten sick yet. I may be over a year old.

  3. I think I would get tired of all the Italian type dishes you are having. But that may be because I am not crazy about Italian food. My husband is from Louisiana and introduced me to Cajun food, which I had never had growing up in Florida. So now I make jambalaya, gumbo, red bean and rice. I like these foods so we would probably have all of these in one week if I was cooking with just what I had on hand. Looking at the week ahead, I have tilapia, ground beef , a pork roast and a chicken carcass in the freezer. So meals built around those items. Tonight it is breakfast, grits and eggs with toast and homemade pear preserves!
