Our perspective of 'POOR' compared to the rest of the world!

  1. I am jumping up and down shouting "Amen !" We are indeed shamefully rich compared to the vast majority of the world.
I always recommend this site whenever the topic of "relative wealth" comes up: www.globalrichlist.com

It will open up your eyes to how high you really are in the world's income.

  3. When we first moved to this country we found it odd that people were classified as being in poverty yet had color tv's, a car, washer/dryer, microwave etc.........

  4. Very interesting.
I don' think we do think of ourselves as rich.. I sometimes do, at least I do realize my husband makes more than average--though we've had to deal with things that have cost more than average too.... but I think about our kids because-- in the past if you were a parent, you would expect your kids to do better than you did--and I am pretty sure they won't do as well as we did. So I worry about them, but then I think-- so what? So what if they don't have as much? Will they starve? hopefully not, It is very possible to have a happy life without a lot of money.

  6. Nothing showed up here for me-no website nor photo, but I am reading K.P.Yohanan's book, "No Longer a Slumdog", and the little children in India live in horrible poverty. I live in a 'mansion'. I'll check back and maybe the photo will show on your post.

  8. Having been to Africa and India (and yes, I know I'm very fortunate to have been able to do those trips to The Gambia and Goa) I've never since been able to consider myself anything other than wealthy. It's all a matter of who we compare ourselves to.
