  • Bapa's Bible Memory Club

It's been quite a few weeks since I last blogged. I'm continuing to pray for the Lord to guide me concerning my blogging.

I love to blog. I love the people I've met on Xanga. I just don't like how blogging has changed my priorities. I was finding that instead of waking up and looking forward to spending time with the Lord my flesh was being pulled hard towards the computer. It was greatly affecting my devotional time.

So, I'm continuing to pray and seek the Lord for His direction. Thank you for those who have been praying for me.

    *~*~*

Bapa started a memory club with the grandchildren a few weeks ago. There are 7 grandchildren who are old enough to participate. He started off using the Roman Road list of scriptures. Here are the 5 scriptures we are memorizing.

    1. We are all sinners (Rom. 3:10,23).
    2. The wages of our sins is death (Rom. 6:23).
    3. Jesus paid our sin debt on the cross (Rom. 5:8).
    4. Salvation comes by faith, that is, by confessing with our mouths and believing in our hearts (Rom. 10:9,10).
    5. Call on the Lord for salvation and get saved (Rom. 10:13).

The grandchildren are memorizing the entire scripture. I just gave the summary in the list above. I'm so proud of them. They are really working hard to memorize the scriptures. Bapa is also asking them questions about the verse to help them understand what they are memorizing. The parents are quizzing the children and in return they are also memorizing the verse.

I made homemade ice cream tonight to celebrate the second verse being learned. Each grandchildren was able to request a special topping. We had sprinkles, candy long sprinkles, chocolate chips, marshmallows, chocolate chip cookie dough and gummy bears. None of it sounded appealing to me but the grandchildren thought it was GRAND.

Here is a picture of them choosing their toppings. Only 4 grandchildren were able to show up tonight. I found some adorable bowls shaped like an ice cream cone a few years ago at the dollar store.

Oops! They remembered, after they started to eat their ice cream, that they had forgotten to pray. I need to look for a new children's prayer for them to learn. They have one that they all know but it would be fun for them to learn a new one.

Here they are praying. I couldn't help grabbing the camera even though I should have been praying!

    Bapa's Memory Club 004

I am loving "Bapa's Bible Memory Club". It is such a blessing to be memorizing scripture along with my grandchildren and children. Yep, Bapa and I are memorizing the scriptures, too. I write the week's verse on an index card for every person. I wrote out 3 cards for Bapa and I so that we can strategically place them around the house. It makes it easy to memorize them when your eyes are naturally falling on them throughout the day.

My prayer is that the Lord will use these verses to draw my grandchildren to Him in the years to come. I pray that my grandchildren will someday see how valuable it is to hide this treasure called God's Word deep in their hearts!

Good to hear from you again.  May God bless you as you continue to seek Him and His will for you.  What is a memory club?

ohhh, I miss your posts!  In any case, I'd like to try and visit the week after Thanksgiving.  Can we pick a date?

@ata_grandma - I accidentally clicked SAVE instead of PRIVATE before I finished writing the post. If you scroll back to my blog you'll see an explanation. Sorry for the confusion.

I love Bapa's Bible Memory Club!  Wonderful.  Just wonderful.  What a blessing reading your post is.

That is so cool!  Why don't you try singing a prayer?  I can't remember any right now, but I used to know some.  My grand-daughter learns verses for Awana at church.  This week the verse she learned was Rom 6:23.  Her grandpa (dad's step-dad) just died and his funeral was Fri.  The pastor who spoke at the funeral quoted that verse, and also John 3:16 which she knows.  She was so excited to hear Bible verses she knew.

There are many out there thst let the computer be their God. I do not have the internet. I am okay with that except I pay my bills and save on stamps. Some would be out there 48/14, if possible. Have a great Turkey day.

I know EXACTLY what you mean about the computer calling you when you really needed time for the Lord. I used to struggle with that a lot, too. Now that my computer is out it has helped get my priorities more in line. Not that my private time with God isn't challenged even yet, but it's no longer the terrible PULL to log on to the computer before my day starts instead of sitting down to God's Word.

btw; that picture of your grandchildren praying is priceless. I  just had to chuckle. And to think of their reactions when they saw the flash going off during prayer. Too funny.

I love all the pictures and also love the idea of the Bible Memory Club!

This is something I really need [want] to do, is to learn more verses, I've done it before and the index cards were really helpful.

    Have a wonderful day!

    Love,

I love the Bapa's Bible Memory Club! What a great idea! And I also enjoy the pictures of the "grands"!

I know what you mean about the way that the "great" sometimes takes over the "best" ~ I find that struggle as well. It is interesting to me how the struggle is always there, because if one gets rid of one "great" ~ another will take its place. Truly God knows us - the principle of ~ Mt.15:18 "But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and these make a man 'unclean.' " I shall pray for you even as I do for myself ~ to keep Him first in my love & life.
