• Only in the Cross

  Our Pastor preached a good sermon, as always! But, it wasn't until we sang the following song right before communion,  that my soul was deeply effected as our dear Pastor began to ask us some of the following questions...

  What do we boast in? Do we boast in our children? Our hobbies? Our good works we do for others?

  Our accomplishments?

  What are we KNOWN for boasting in?

  Are we known for boasting only in the CROSS!

  I pondered the question for what seemed like an eternity but I knew in my heart what the answer was. I am not known for boasting ONLY in the CROSS!

  It was a 'God Moment' for me. It was an answer to a prayer that I prayed several weeks ago. I asked the Lord to reveal if a certain heart attitude was sinful. I knew the 'act' was not sinful but was beginning to feel that my motive was more ME centered than CHRIST centered. "I" was seeking the glory for my accomplishment  instead of seeking to bring glory to God!

  As my pastor was speaking I realized God was answering my prayer... yes, my attitude was sinful because I was glorying in an accomplishment and not only in the cross. I was seeking to exalt myself instead of Christ.

  I can't think of much on this earth that compares to knowing God has spoken to me PERSONALLY through His Word!  Thank you, Lord!

   How glorious and marvelous YOU ARE!!!

  Here is the chorus to ONLY IN THE CROSS... (Pastor encourages us to raise our voices together and sing it as if we really mean it!!!)

  So I will glory only in the cross

  Yes, I will glory only in the cross

  And I will make my boast

  in the Lord Jesus Christ

  Crucified to ransom us

   

  But far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ ...
